Terrick Terrick National Park is where we start our Twitchathon effort every year. It's a small national park located in the North-central region of Victoria, about 100km north of Bendigo. The vegetation is unusual in that it is dominated by Callitris White Cyprus Pine; correspondingly the avifauna is also very interesting. It's a very good spot to see Gilbert's Whistler and a host of other really good woodland species occur. Best birds we've seen here would have to be Plainswanderer in the newly annexed grassland area in the north-east and Painted Honeyeater, which is the first time it has been recorded at TT.

Where: From Melbourne, take the Calder Highway up to Bendigo. Head through Bendigo to the suburb of Eaglehawk then turn right to Mitiamo (it's signposted). Drive 65km to Mitiamo then about 5km north of Mitiamo to the park. Altogether it's about 220km from Melbourne.

The park is not large, with the newly annexed area I'd guess approximately 3000ha. There is a very pleasant and well equipped picnic area where camping is allowed. We usually try to get up there two or three times a year so here are my records for the last 5 years, which will hopefully give you an idea of the high quality of this park:
